SME2 - Subject Matter Expert Advanced Safety Training Introduction to successful safety process implementation.

The SME2 training is intended to build upon what was learned in SM1 and gets deeper into the risk assessment, risk reduction, design, design verification, and validation processes. It is intended for safety professionals or those that will be designing and implementing machinery safety solutions. It teaches the safety development life cycle to ensure that the safety development process is documented and validated.

Contents

  • Risk Assessment – with a focus on risk assessment processes, procedures and requirements. Students will be able to identify risks associated with operating, maintaining, minor servicing activities, and will be able to calculate risk using a variety of risk estimation tools.
  • Risk Reduction – with a focus on available risk reduction devices, techniques and methods. Students will be able to identify effective risk reduction techniques, practices and procedures to reduce risk.
  • Design and Design Verification – with a focus on implementing safe-guarding solutions to meet functional safety requirement. Students will also learn how to do design verification calculation.
  • Validation – with a focus on validating functional safety solutions to ensure that the safety solutions meet the requirements identified during the risk assessment process.
